Project Story

Kathleen Rehl is an author who supports widows through the financial and emotional challenges that follow the loss of a spouse. Her previous website, built on Wix, didn’t reflect the care and clarity of her message. Her book was hard to find, the layout was disorganized, and her generous collection of free resources was tucked away.

I rebuilt the site from the ground up using Framer. I handled everything from strategy and copy to design, development, and launch. Our goal was to make the site feel personal and intuitive, while giving her book and tools the visibility they deserved. We used soft, feminine colors, editorial-style typography, and minimal animation to keep things calm and accessible, especially for older visitors.

We carefully restructured the resources section too. Instead of splitting them by audience, we grouped them by theme: Financial Help for Widows, Legacy Planning, and Purposeful Aging. I also worked with Kathleen to get new photography that made the site feel more personal and alive.

Since launching, site visits have gone up, bounce rate has dropped, and button clicks more than doubled. Someone even reached out to buy 150 copies of her book.

What I’m most proud of, though, is how true the final site feels to her voice. It’s warm, clear, and quietly powerful,  just like her.

Responsive Design

Displays perfectly on desktops, tablets, and phones.

Content Management System

I built a custom content management system (CMS) for Kathleen, so she can easily update her site without needing to touch the design. Whether it’s adding a new article, tweaking her free resources, or updating book details, every editable section is mapped to a user-friendly CMS panel in Framer. This keeps her site flexible, future-proof, and entirely in her control.

Audience-Centered Information Hierarchy

The site was designed to guide two different user types; widows and financial advisors, to the resources they need without confusion.

Simplified Responsive Navigation

Reduced cognitive load by removing clutter and focusing only on the content that serves her audience best.

User Journey Mapping

Content and CTAs were placed deliberately to match a visitor’s emotional flow: empathy → trust → value → action.

Within the first 2 weeks of launching Kathleen's website, here's what was accomplished.

      107%

Click Thru Rate

The increase of people sent to Amazon to buy her book.

      5%

Bounce Rate

The decrease of visiters who left her site without interacting with it.

      150

Book Sales

Weeks after launch, Kathleen recieved a bulk order of 150 books.

Kathleen's Experience

From the start, Tim asked insightful questions to clarify what I wanted the site to accomplish—something the previous version never quite captured. He created a clean, intuitive layout with engaging graphics, stunning artwork, and easy navigation. Most importantly, the new site beautifully showcases my award-winning book, Moving Forward on Your Own: A Financial Guidebook for Widows, making it simple for visitors to explore and order. Within a week of launching, I received a bulk order for 150 books, and Amazon sales also increased! Tim was patient, professional, and collaborative throughout the process. He even taught me how to make minor updates myself, so I can continue adding content and stories as they’re published. I’m delighted with the results!

And Here's What Her Collegues Said...

"In comparison, I just love the greater simplicity of the new one.  It is easy to navigate and I think that new widows and advisors can both benefit from it.  I love the way the pages integrate the author quotes and drawings from the book into the web pages What a great compilation of all your writings relating to widows, legacy planning, etc."

Karen Folk
Financial Planner

"I agree with everything Karen said about the clarity and colorfulness of the new one. I love the pastel-colored designs and quotes. I especially like all the white space, and links to useful information that is immediately available without needing to buy the book. Continuing to make your wisdom available is a wonderful gift to the world. Thank you."
